Textual Analysis- Kerrang Magazine








· Mast head- KERRANG! This has connotations with guitar sounds and loud music because the words are cracking.
· It’s a rock music magazine published by Bauer Consumer Media in the United Kingdom.
· The magazines name is an onomatopoeic and refers to the sound made when playing a power chord on an electric guitar.
· Price- special offer, this draws people in and makes the magazine more appealing.
· Free posters are included in the magazine which may persuade people to buy it.
· “Slayer- answer your questions”- “your” is in a different colour which suggests that the readers have sent the questions in.
· Strapline- this is individual to the magazine.
· The main story, front cover line stands out in a bold font.
· Harsh, clashing, bold colours and font.
· Image is a medium close up of Axl Rose who appears to be performing to you from the way he has been placed in the frame in a medium close up shot.
· Target audience- young people/teenagers
· Brand identity- masthead/ busy/ lots of colour
· Throw away magazine- it has a papery feel which suggests it is made quite cheaply and the price reflects this.
· Weekly magazine- it has a fast feel to it.
